Q & A WITH Greg Smith

Greg Smith is a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrionist, currently residing in Atlanta, GA. Owner of Gsmith Training(Online Personal Training). He has been around fitness since the age of 7. His desire to help women with PCOS began when he met his wife, Daylen, in 2013. Determined to help her with the PCOS symptoms, Greg started to research and gather information to understand PCOS thoroughly. Finding that fitness is an important part to controlling PCOS, he started generating programs and systems to help on a fitness level.

A lot of women are told to be active, exercise and eat healthy. The only thing missing is the details of what to do specifically. Greg is more than willing to help women take control of PCOS, the natural way, through fitness. He has designed a PCOS Fitness Solution Program, that you can have access to by computer, tablet, and smartphone (Mobile Training App). A 7-Day Free Trial to jump start PCOS control is available as well. If you're ready to take control, contact Greg for help!

What is PCOS in respect to your area of expertise?

PCOS is a condition that includes excess production of male hormones and insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar. PCOS can be controlled with a natural approach through nutrition and fitness.

What are the PCOS symptoms?

There are quite a few symptom; irregular periods, which is most common, failure to menstruate for months or prolonged periods that may be heavy. Excess Androgen (male hormone) that can result in excess facial and body hair, acne, male pattern baldness, obesity, infertility, ovarian cysts, insulin retention, and diabetes.

What are you currently doing for PCOS?

I have created a 12-week fitness program called "The PCOS Fitness Solution". The program was built to help women to be active. My wife was able to see a big difference with symptoms, by starting to walk more. Within the program, it focuses on cardio and strength training. It's important to not over stress the body, so rest days are vital. The program has a design that is balanced so that women can recover well from the fitness program. It is also ideal for beginners as well, as The PCOS Fitness Solution program is a progressive system.

What are 5 key facts about PCOS that you would like the public to know?

Five key facts:

(1) PCOS can be treated with a natural approach. Women do not always ahve to reply on many medications.

(2)  PCOS is linked to insulin resistance. A low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet may be the most successful for weight loss.

(3)  Combination of aerobic and weight training can lead to weight loss.

(4)  Avoid "crash diets". Some work against PCOS.

(5)  Focus on improving overall health.

What do you want to get out of helping women with PCOS?

I want women with PCOS to be able to realize that the fitness side of PCOS is not as difficult as it can seem. It does not have to take a lot of time out of their day. As a result, i want women like my wife, to feel comfortable in their own skin.

Does your business/practice have an online presence on social websites?

What interests you about serving on the PCOSAA Advisory Committee?

I feel privileged to be part of like-minded individuals that have the focus on helping women with PCOS. I think the Advisory Committee is a great source and tool to help women with a natural and positive approach.

What can PCOSAA do, as an organization, to bring more awareness and to get more doctors to test women for PCOS?

I think if PCOSAA stays updated and constantly producing specific information to women, the message will spread worldwide. In turn, more doctors will be asked by their patients about PCOS.
